More Details:
At the heart of fires, rockets and explosions located the home of Gaber Hu’waig. On January 27th, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) aimed at the security headquarters around the house of Gaber’s family which was imprisoned. They could not leave home and run away under the heavy Israeli shells and had no choice but sticking to their home.

Behind the closed door, Olfet tried to calm down her younger brother Ahmed, and attract his attention away from the shelling; she asked him to listen to her pronouncing the alphabet and repeat after her. She looked directly on his eyes and told him how he would be the most intelligent student at the kindergarten. At that moment, the IDF launched another rocket targeting Gaber’s house; Olfet and Ahmed were hit.

Gathering up her strength and courage, Olfet held Ahmed between her arms and ran in the streets crying for help, but she could not walk for a long and fainted away. The ambulance arrived and took both to the hospital. While Olfet recovered, Ahmed slept in a comma until he died on January 6th, 2009.

Other Information:

Ahmed was six years old. Although Ahmed was born Mongolian, after accurate medical checks, doctors decided that his mental abilities were exactly like normal children and that all what he would need was just care. That’s why Ahmed’s mother paid him a lot of attention saying "I have never felt that he is a Mongolian child; he was so smart and beautiful."

Ahmed was his father’s favorite. Once the father heard the bus’ horn when Ahmed came back from school, he would run leaving everything to hug him dearly as if he didn’t see him for five years not five hours. Ahmed was so close to his father, he even refused to eat but with his father.

During the ten days that Ahmed spent confined to bed between Al-Shafa’a hospital and another hospital inside Israel, the mother was praying that he would come back in the best of health very soon. One day before his death, the mother received news from the hospital that he made some movements, which gave her hope. When told about his death the following day, she totally collapsed, but plead with her sons to bring his body so as she can kiss him for the last time.

Her sons refused at the beginning, but at the end they could not say no before her tears. When the mother saw Ahmed, she held him tightly to her chest and hugged him for a long time and asked her sons to let him stay between her arms, but her sons had to take the body to bury. Ahmed departed leaving his mother with a broken heart that nothing may ever heal.

His Hobbies and Dreams:

In kindergarten, Ahmed memorized many songs by heart and would sing with a beautiful voice all the time. He had the ability to memorize some short chapters of the Noble Qur'an. He only had a problem with writing; to write Ahmed needed help from somebody else. Moreover, Ahmed was so much interested in athletics, soccer and wrestling.
