| Martyrdom Account:
Rowan, 8 years old, yearned for some of the kids’ delicacies, so, when it was calm, she went out to buy one. Hardly had she walked a few meters than a missile from a reconnaissance aircraft hit her small body and ripped it by its shrapnel and she was immediately martyred.
Rowan was the only female among her 5 brothers and therefore she was extremely loved and coddled. Her mother relates that her father was to be operated on and before getting into the operation theater, he earnestly requested his sons to care for Rowan. The moment he regained consciousness from the anesthetic he asked to see Rowan.
The mother’s eyes while talking about her beloved Rowan reflect deep devotion to her only coddled daughter. She said, “Rowan was energetic and distinguished” Her brother, Luay explained how much he missed his dear Rowan and how strongly he was attached to his late sister. He said, “ I loved Rowan so much. She is my only sister. She was martyred. She was killed by the Jews just a few meters outside her home.”
Rowan was studying in the second grade primary in the “Martyr Raed Dhumaidha Primary School.” She was hoping to be a doctor and did all her best to score high in her school subjects to this end. Her mother said, “She was a diligent student even when it comes to the extracurricular activities to which it paid real attention. She looked older that she actually was. All her kin and neighbors do not believe she had so abruptly gone.”
Rowan used to help her mother with housework. She was compassionate and warmhearted. Her heart smarted when her neighboring children Ali and Amer Al Nadr were martyred and their bodies were ripped over the asphalt road. Her uncle’s wife heard her supplicate: “O’ Lord! Protect us, the innocent children. O’ Lord! Take revenge on the Jews!”
