| The
Story of Martyrdom:
On the impact of
Amira’s cries, `Ala’ (14 years old) woke up from his
sleep. He went out to see what happened to his father —
who left him a while ago to help an injured man sought
shelter in the house wall — but he could not see but blood
and body parts. He went right and left floundering like a
wanderer looking for a way to escape. He challenged the
Israeli warplanes and shells that were falling over the
place and ran for meters to reach the main street in order
to get an ambulance car to take his father to the hospital.
However, before he could reach the main street at the door
of the Community College of professional and applied
sciences, an Israeli reconnaissance warplane fired a missile
at him, causing him to join his father as a martyr.
`Ala’ was the only
male child to his father among other female sisters, so he
attached with his father a lot. At his young age, `Ala’
had an accident that caused him to suffer from a cerebral
palsy, but his father kept on taking him to hospitals for
treatment over the past two years until he recovered
slightly. However, that accident affected his educational
level, but he was conscious enough to help his father in his
small shop.
Since he was two
years old, he had a mother who took care of him to the
extent that she gave up her job as a kindergarten supervisor
in order to take care of him until he grows up or be fine.
His stepmother said: "I waited for him to grow up and
be fine and when he did that, the Israeli warplanes killed
him." The woman blamed herself for allowing him and his
sisters Amirah and `Ismat beside their father at home while
she went to her father’s house to meet some needs. She
said: “If part of me was cut off but `Ala’ stays, it
would have been easier for my heart."
His little sister
Haya cried for him when she recalled when `Ala’ was taking
her to the nearby shop to buy her candy from his pocket
money. She says: "He was very affectionate, quiet,
good-hearted, and compassionate."
