The story of martyrdom:

The ninth of January 2009 was the fourteenth day of the "Melted bullets" war on the besieged Strip. The UN Security Council condemned the ferocious war on Gaza and demanded the two parties with immediate cease-fire. However, the Israeli forces continued to bomb all parts of the sector. The Israeli warplanes targeted the House of Salhah in Bayt Lahya's project in the northern of Gaza Strip. There, the shrapnel of missiles were scattered on the bodies of the people who were in the house, killing the mother, her sister, and four of her children who were: Diya'uddin, Baha'uddin, Rana, and Rola.

The Catastrophe was hard to the heart of the father, Fayiz Salhah. In one moment he lost his sons and his wife. The husband narrates that on the night of martyrdom, his wife asked him to go home early to spend the night with his with his children, whose hearts were longing for him because of the nature of his work which forced him to sleep at work. He worked as a security guard of John King, the director of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees.

Diya'uddin did not exceed the fourteen-years-old was the first of the martyrs in his family. His father spoke about him in words filled with pain and longing for Diya': "Diya'uddin was bound to the Masjid and was keen to memorize the Qur'an and to achieve that he took serious steps to achieve his hopes."

At home, among his friends, and everywhere, he was characterized by wit and sense of humor among his colleague. His father said after he had a sad smile on his face: "In the last year, he joined a summer camp and during the swimming activity the coach used to tell him: Do not be worry you will not sink Diya'uddin because of his heavy weight. The coach said jokingly, "You will be our lifeboat, then the surrounding children were laughing as well as Diya'uddin. He knew for sure that he was beloved by his colleagues and that was not mockery or contempt, but joking.

As Diya'uddin was funny, he also was agile and close to the hearts of people. He used to plan to his future whenever he grows up. On his birthday, he used to renew his future plans. Last year, he completed his swimming certificate and memorized the Qur'an.

Still there is a memory for the late brother who narrated it while crying: "On the night of his martyrdom Diya'uddin woke up from his sleep on the sound of bombing. He awoke his young brothers and taught them the Prophet's Hadith "The master Hadith of seeking forgiveness", so all the people memorized the Hadith even the four-years-old Baha'uddin."
