The Story of Martyrdom:

At seven AM, on the seventh of January, `Abdullah Gawdat and Muhammad Al-Ma`sawaby insisted to meet in that cold mourning. Despite the truculence of the Israeli war on Gaza Strip, the two boys met to watch the atmosphere of war. However, the occupation warplanes did not give them much time because an Israeli reconnaissance warplane aimed a missile directly at them while they were standing in the cross roads of Al-Jala' Street, one of the main streets in Gaza.

The two friends passed away and were buried together in one grave leaving their seats in the third grade of prep school empty. Moments before his death, `Abdullah promised his mother to fast on the Day of `Ashura' (the tenth day of Muharam), but on that day morning he forgot and drank some water. He went to his mother asking her about the ruling and she told him to continue the fast, thereupon he was happy and left home without breaking his fast. His mother said: “`Abdullah was polite, obedient, and spent a lot of his time in the Masjid and that was comfortable to me, especially, he was in a critical phase of age.” The father of `Abdullah said: `Abdullah was a good boy, obedient, and was memorizing the Qur'an all the time. `Abdullah hoped to reach high school then join the university. There is neither might nor power except with Allah, the Most High, the Most Great." As for his younger brother Zakariyya, he always repeats that `Abdullah is in heaven. However, he is quite aware that he lost the most important brother and the most caring for him, `Abdullah.
