The Story of Martyrdom:

At noon on the 10th of January, `Iz Al-Din Al-Burs went out to a nearby place in order to fill the bottles with drinkable water, taking advantage of the three-hour truce. He came back with these bottles to his brother who was living on the third floor in "An-Noury Tower" in An-Nusayrat, in the middle of Gaza Strip, but he did not come down quickly to his house, which was two floors lower.

`Iz Al-Din was about to prepare the dinner with the help of his brother. He lit the paraffin stove to cook some potato fingers, but his friends were calling him outside to go with them somewhere. He looked from the balcony to tell them to wait for him. However, the shrapnel of a missile that was launched by an Israeli warplane at a nearby house did not give him much time and tore his body apart. Some of his carnage were scattered and mixed with the food and another part hit the wall of the balcony causing him to fall on his friends down stairs.

He spent his last moments with his two friends (Magd `Arandas and Fursan Al-Hur) before the barber's shop. He asked them to shorten their hair, but they refused because there was no need for that during the wartime. He said to them: “Tomorrow is my wedding.” Then he went to the nearby internet cafe and chatted with his fourteen-years-absent father.

`Iz Al-Din was not the only child but he was the middle child among his seven siblings, but he was the nearest to his mother’s heart; whenever she went, he went with her to help her in all her affairs. She said: “I had seven children but `Iz was the closest to my heart. He left me by body but his soul is still attached to my heart.”

Despite his young age, `Iz was beloved and popular at everybody in his neighborhood. We asked some of the passersby when we were lost about the road to his house. As soon as the passerby heard his name, he entered into a moment of sadness then followed it with a long supplication of mercy and said: He was kind hearted and helpful. He did not hesitate to help someone needs help while he was able to meet his need even if he was busy with something else.

`Iz left school for two years, but he joined school again and finished all the procedures to re-list himself in the records of the ministry of education. He began to prepare himself for the final year test of high school and he wished to complete it successfully and complete his university study in order to have a better future, but he left before he could enter the test.
