The Story of Martyrdom:

In the beginning of the land invasion that the Israeli army executed in the Gaza Strip, the family of Walid went to the house of his uncle perhaps to find it safer, but he returned to the house with a number of citizens whom the Israeli soldiers commanded to enter. On the 5th of January, the Israeli tanks showered the house with hails of shells causing the biggest massacre against civilians during the Israeli war against Gaza Strip.

Walid was one of those martyrs along with his parents, but his body disappeared several days from the place of the massacre that was executed against As-Sammuny's family, later on it was found under the rubble of the houses that the Israeli dredgers destroyed.

He spent his last moments with his younger brother, where they slept together in one room and laughed a lot. When the voices of bombing and bullets were high, they came out of the room to another more secure room. In the morning, they woke up as all the family members, left the house seeking to escape. They all went out, but Walid did not come back and his parents and his brother Tawfiq joined him in the massacre of As-Sammuny’s family two days after his death.

Walid had a good relationship with his siblings and kind treatment. In the last summer he joined a session for learning the basics of computers and skilled in that. He did not withhold what he had learnt, so he assigned an hour for them to teach them how to deal with the computer. His brother Musa said: “His time was divided between learning computer and the teaching the Qur'an for young children in the masjid.”

He hoped to finish his study quickly and complete his career that he started with teaching the Qur’an for young kids in the nearby masjid, but unfortunately his dream was assassinated by Israeli bullets or shells.
