| The Story of Martyrdom:
Time passed hardly for the 14 years old `Iz Al-Din because the days of war were long and terrible, therefore, he preferred to spend some time with his nearby house of his uncle; that was on the 14th of January 2009. When night began to cover Khan Yunus, `Iz Al-Din wanted to go home, but his brother asked him and his cousin to meet some of his needs; that was a few minutes before `Isha’ Prayer. When `Iz Al-Din and his cousin approached the house, an Israeli reconnaissance warplane launched a missile against them causing `Iz Al-Din to lose his life and his cousin was injured badly.
His mother said: When the medics came to the area, I was getting ready for `Isha' Prayer, so I ran to check on my children, but could not find `Iz Al-Din among them and automatically I said: `Iz was gone. And verily it was as I said. Allah is Sufficient for us, and how fine a trustee He is! The mother added: “Last night, `Iz was playing with his siblings. I looked at them and began to fear that this happiness will go away.”
`Iz Al-Din excelled in the second prep school and his grades were over 95%. He wished to become a teacher of the English language. `Iz had a nice voice, therefore, he was warbling in school and in ceremonies. Before his martyrdom, his mother heard him repeating the song of “the houris are calling me. Truly, I shall meet my houris. The second song was “the boat of farewell will take us away.”
`Iz was so much proud of his character and took away the attentions whenever he went with his sense of humor. All the people loved him even the school principle who was feared by all boys. When the principle came to show his condolences, he said that he missed one of the most important students in his school.
His brother Bilal missed `Iz Al-Din very much and used to say about him: “`Iz had a quality that he never said “no” to anyone and always rushed to meet the needs of all the people.” As for the youngest brother, he said: “The best thing of `Iz’s ethics is: he preferred others to himself. He used to save from his pocket money to help his family at the end of the month.” As for his father, he asked him, one night before his martyrdom, to go to fetch the fresh sweet water. When the father gave `Iz some money, `Iz refused to take the money and said: "You are in dire need and you need every shekel."
