The Story of Martyrdom:

The boy Ashraf Kaly received the family of his uncle which resorted to his house in the first days of war. He always rushed to help his mother in meeting the needs of the house. On the 8th of January, Ashraf started his day by packing water after it was ceased for more than 12 days. When the family ran out of bread, he did not hesitate to go to the bakery to fetch some bread to his family and the family of his uncle that resorted to them for help. On his way, he was hit with shrapnel of a missile that was launched by an Israeli F-16 warplane causing him to lose his life at once.

The mother of Shady remembers her spoiled child Ashraf who used to come every night to sleep on her legs and asked her to wipe over his head in order to sleep. She remembers that boy who used to inform her about his dreams and hopes. He left before he could achieve any of his dreams and his laughs with his brother `Abdul-Karim are still echoing in her ears. That was his last night with her. His mother said: “He was so popular to the extent that I could not count his friends and companions who were attached to him a lot and were very sad for his martyrdom.”

Ashraf was the nearest child to his father’s heart. His father said: Ashraf was loved by all people and was the sweetheart of the house. The closest things to his heart were laughter and making others happy. He was the closest to my heart. He asked my permission when we were playing domino to go to buy some bread. He went but never came back.” Allah is Sufficient for us, and how fine a trustee He is!”

Ashraf hoped to achieve success in his professional career after he had left school in early age, He exerted efforts to work with his brother Mahmoud in a paint shop. His mother said: "He was very generous and dreamt of the day on which he would grow up, build a house, and form a nice family."

As for his talents, his mother said: "He loved to work on the computer and he was the first to buy a computer in our house. I remember how he was sitting on the computer and play with it." May Allah bestow mercy on his soul!
