The Story of Martyrdom:

After the Israeli forces had occupied the house of Muhammad Abu `Askar in Jabalia, his second son (Emad) hastened to gather the house stuff from under the rubble. The main interest of Emad was to find the books of his sister Khulud who was a high school student and her books were the most important to find.

Emad was able to get out the books and give them to Khulud. Emad left his family in the neighbors' house and returned to Al-Fakhoura school to meet some of his neighbors and refugees who were beside the school wall. At that time, the F-16 warplanes launched their missiles at those people, most of them were children. They killed Emad and his 19 years old brother (Khalid) along with 42 other martyrs in that massacre.

Khulud was the elder sister of Emad and whenever he entered the house, he bothered her saying: “By Allah, I love you Killah (the nickname of Khulud)” and she would reply to him with the same. She said about him: “Emad was an assiduous student and he wished to become a teacher when he would grow up.” Emad passed away and left his school seat in Al-Fakhoura school empty. That school which witnessed the grievous massacres in the history of the Israeli occupation in Gaza. He also left his place in the Qur’anic session that he used to attend in which he memorized three and half parts of the Qur’an.

His mother described him as: “He was very social and popular. He liked to talk to everyone to the extent that he used to speak to stones and let everyone take part in the conversation. He was known as “the talkative person in the family.” I felt that he was the man of the house in the absence of my father and my elder brother, and I relied completely on him. He did not like troubles and hated to see any unfinished problem, so he hastened to finish it smartly as if he was a man, not a child. When he entered the house and saw me angry at something, he said: “You seem to be so sweet when you are angry. Come on laugh.” He seemed to be older than he really was and tried to spread happiness and comfort on every person in the house."

Emad was so special in his neighborhood and was one of those people who offered Salah in the first rows. The youth of the masjid loved him for his eloquence and his character. Now, they remember how he surpassed them in the last sniping journey because he was the only one who could hit his target although his young age.

Emad’s mother keeps recalling the memories of Emad. She remembers him when she sent him to the market to meet her needs and recalls his skill in fixing everything that was broken in the house. Emad left a strong impact on his twin brother who refused to meet the needs of the house hoping that Emad will come back and fulfill it, but unfortunately, he did not come back.
