The Story of Martyrdom:

On the 13th of January, afternoon, Mahmoud asked his mother to prepare some food for lunch. He started to help her in preparing the food then left her to finish it. He went out to As-Sikkah territory that was nearby his house to spend the remnant few minutes with his cousin `Abdul-Rahman. As soon as the mother placed the first dish on the table, she heard an explosion near the house. She went out to check the place of explosion to find that the core of her heart (her son Mahmoud) turned into small pieces of flesh and blood along with his cousin `Abdul-Rahman.

The scene was terrible to the extent that she did not believe that her son who was asking for some food minutes ago and who was helping her in the kitchen was killed mercilessly like this. She said: “No words can describe that scene. Allah is Sufficient for us, and how fine a trustee He is! I cannot believe that I lost my son in minutes because he was waiting outside for food to be ready. That was his only crime which the occupation forces answered by launching shells at him.”

Mahmoud was the first male child whom the family of Hajj Abu Muhammad Gab Allah received with longing and yearning as the Palestinian expression goes. He was the first grandson who gained love and great care from all members of the house where his grandfather had a distinctive relationship with him. The grandfather said: “Mahmoud not only was my grandson, but also was a son, a brother, and a friend whom I took everywhere and boasted of him. Allah is Sufficient for us, and how fine a trustee He is! They killed him without mercy along with his cousin `Abdul-Rahman.”

His grandmother remembers his last day that he spent with her. She said: “He asked me to make some food then he went out to get me some chocolate. He came back to give it to me and asked for his share. I told him that I sent his share with his sister to their home, then he asked me to sleep in our house, but his commitment and fear that cannot accompany his grandfather made him go. He went to accompany his grandfather because he preferred everyone to himself. Today, I see him with me in every moment and we all are keen to visit his grave every Thursday.”

As for his relationship with his mother, it was more distinct. His mother remembered his attitude when she went to the clinic during the war. The mother said: “He insisted to follow me and when I asked him to go back home for fear that he may be killed, he returned. When I came back, he told me that I was pregnant with a boy and I should call him Mahmoud. I said to him: you are Mahmoud and it is not permissible to name two brothers with the same name. However, he insisted that I name his brother Mahmoud. I did not know that he was telling me that he will not be able to continue life with us.”

The mother described her late son with a broken heart saying:”Mahmoud was a young man who took the responsibility of the house. He helped everyone, obeyed all the people, and took the responsibility of meeting the needs of the house without negligence.”

Mahmoud was a student in the second prep school. He almost achieved the dream of his father to join high school and be the first male in the family to reach that stage of education. As for the grandfather (the father of Muhammad Gab Allah), Muhammad was the first male grandson of his only son who begot him after eight daughters. His grandfather said: “I was so happy when I saw Mahmoud growing up day after another as a young man beside his father who did not have any male brothers.”
