The Story of Martyrdom:

In the morning of the 7th of January, the people ran to Al Jala’ Neighborhood in Gaza at the sound of bombs that killed Muhammad Al-Ma`swaby and Muahmmad Juda. Everyone saw the accident was horrified for the terrible scene of those two kids whose flesh and blood scattered everywhere.

One of the boys who went to scout the scene was Mahmoud (17 years old). Mahmoud saw the accident of the two boys and returned home to narrate to his mother what he had seen. When he returned home, he found his mother at the house door watching the scene, then he told her about the accident. At that time, he was in the company of his friend Mustafa Al-Khalidy. The boys were about to go back to the scene, they walked few meters by Al Taqwa Masjid, and there was the second target for the occupation forces who aimed one of their shells at them killing them at once in Al Jala’ Street.

His mother said: “I was waiting patiently the end of war to force him finish high school. I gave him a private room to study in and we made a deal that as soon as the war is over, he would not come out of it but at need." Whenever his mother asked him about the field of specialty he liked, he said: “Let us do not think of that right now, Leave it to school credits.” Mahmoud stipulated to his friends that they would give him a reward if he would get high credits, but if the credits are low, he will pay them.

Mahmoud was so close to his mother, loved her very much, and used to draw near her all the time. The most beloved thing to his heart is to touch her warm face with his cold hand and titillate her. Today, the mother remembers her little boy, cries, and imagines him reciting the Qur’an with his sweet voice.

Mahmoud was so much attached with his sister Isra' (the university student). They competed in almost everything; mainly, in memorizing the Qur’an. When it was the time for watching the TV quizzes, the competition was at the peak and whenever Mahmoud and Isra’ were able to answer easily and quickly, Mahmoud wished to participate in those quizzes to get the prizes, but his wish did not come true because Israeli deprived him of his right of living.
