| The Story of Martyrdom:
On Tuesday, the sixth of January, the F-16 warplanes did not give the family of Ad-Dayah much time to have breakfast after the Fajr Prayer. They destroyed their four-floor house, killing 23 people and only one survived.
Muhammad (6 months) was one of the martyrs along with another six kids of Iyad’s family. He was sleeping in his warm bed in the cold winter of Gaza, but the missile that was launched by these airplanes demolished his house and killed all the family members who were therein.
Iyad (the martyr’s father) and his wife obeyed the commands of fear and went with their children to live in the house of his father in law, but they came back on the second day, insisting not to care for the war. When Iyad was going upstairs, his brother Rida stopped him and asked him about the reason of their coming back, Iyad said: “We came back to die here.” At that time, he was carrying his six months Muhammad and addressed him saying: “Are not we want to die over here?” Thereupon, the laughs of the baby were heard as an affirmation to the speech of his father. The father smiled back at him, kissed him, and went upstairs. That situation is still alive in the memory of Rida, the uncle of the child.
As for the wife of his uncle (Um Hamzah), she also recalls the last time she saw Muhammad with his mother was when she came back home to take some stuff; that was on the second of January. She said: His mother was hugging him, so I asked her about his conditions and she answered: “Muhammad is fine and I like that he would grow up and die as martyr.” Then, she saw me off and supplicated Allah to facilitate things for us and to come back home soon. His mother always dreamt of the day when he would grow up to join school and the masjid as his siblings because she worked hard to educate her children and to be or the masjid visitors. She often took her daughters to the masjid while she commanded Sharaf and Ali to go to the men masjid to offer Salah and memorize the Qur’an.
The 36 Iyad loved the name of Muhammad a lot and wanted to name his first child Muhammad, but he obeyed the request of his father and named the first child “Ali”. Then, he named the second “Sharaf Al Din” and when he received the third child, he named it Muhammad. His aunt (Um Jihad) said: Whenever I entered their house, I felt happy because they were the nice thing of the house. She added: They filled the house of their parents with joy and happiness. Allah is Sufficient for us, and how fine a trustee He is! They killed them all. Um Jihad remembers with her eyes full of tear how did Rawdah, the mother of Muhammad’s wife tie the forehead of Muhammad with a bandage on which was written “No god but Allah”. He looked so nice in that bandage then everybody hastens to take photos of him with the cameras of mobiles. She added: Glory be to Allah! He was so handsome and his mother was so delighted and loved him so much. She dreamt of the day when Muhammad would grow up to be like his siblings or better. She imagined him reciting the Qur’an, Allah is Sufficient for us, and how fine a trustee He is!
