The Story of Martyrdom:

Nour left her mother and brothers in Jabalia club where they sought shelter to escape the bombing. She preferred to return to her home next to the house of her uncle in Salah Al Din Street in the north of Jabalia. She wanted to stay with her father whom she yearned to see after he refused to leave the house and go to the club to seek shelter.

On the 11th of January, she asked the permission of her mother to go back, but she refused out of fear for her. When she persisted, she gave her permission, so her heart was full of joy to meet her father and the cousins whom she missed for days. She went back as a bird returns to its nest. For four days, Nour was midst her happiness. In the morning, she took care of her mother and in the evening, she went to the house of her uncle `Izz Al Din for fear of bombardment around her house until she passed away on the 5th day, corresponding to the 16th of January while talking with her cousins about childhood and the ongoing war. The occupation forces dropped a tank shell amidst them, turning their bodies into pieces of flesh and blood on the floor as well as on walls; moreover, she was covered with blood that did not cease until her martyrdom. Nour passed away along with her cousins `Izz Al Din, Ayah, Mayar, and Baysan at once.

The life of Nour was quick and its details were not stereotype, but they differed as conditions entailed. In the house, she was a professional cook who helped her mother in the housework. As soon as she returned from school, she took off her school uniform and put on the house clothes to tidy, clean, take care of the young, cook food, and make the candy that she learnt from her uncle’s wife whom she loved as she loved her mother. Her mother said: Now I miss her I relied on her to take care of her brothers, however, she was the first in her study. May Allah have mercy upon her!

The housework which Nour excelled in did not take her from study and excellence. However, she was active in studying her lessons, therefore the teachers loved her for her smartness and for quick intuition. As for her colleagues, they could not study for test except with Nour who was a beacon of science, literature, ethics, and beauty as well.

She waited eagerly until the months of winter to pass quickly as well as spring in order that the summer comes with joys and its happy occasions. She prepared herself to the wedding of her sister Intisar. Her mother said: In the betrothal, she insisted that her sister go with her to buy the dress and kept on going with her to the hairdresser in order to be in the perfect shape. Before her martyrdom, she was getting ready for attending the wedding. She said that she would choose a suitable dress for her, the suitable hairstyle, and the makeup that increase her beauty, but unfortunately she passed away.

Intisar shall be married to her groom after few weeks, but she is not happy. How could she be happy and the one who accompanied her throughout her life had passed away without farewell.

Nour passed away while her heart bore a lot of wishes and dreams that she was counting hours to achieve. She dreamt to be proud of herself after a magnificent success in high school that qualifies it to study abroad as her father promised. She wanted to study the law, but the occupation forces had deprived her of her right of life.
