| The
Story of Martyrdom:
Along with her
sisters, Ikram was killed. They had their last words and
laughs then they closed their eyes to sleep, but they did
not open them again. The missile that fell on `Imad `Aql’s
Masjid leveled their house to the ground, burying their
bodies under a pile of pieces covered with blood and thus
Ikram and her four sisters were killed.
Ikram did not go
exceed fifteen years old, but with her wit, activity, and
her social interaction with others she looked older. At
home, she was obedient to anyone asks for help, did not
delay her housework, was kind hearted, and pretty.
Her mother said
about her scientific level: “She loved school so much and
cared for her lessons, but her scientific level was “very
good” and I always pushed her to exert more efforts
sometimes with exhortation and sometime with threatening.
Ikram was an
obedient girl to her mother, she bore the responsibility of
earning money and meeting the needs of her little sisters.
She took the responsibility of selling and marketing the
cookies that her mother used to bake. She would take it to
school to offer it politely to her teachers and deliver it
to the customers who ask for it. She was the right hand of
her mother, but now her mother misses her and misses the
desire to go back to work after the departure of her first
assistant.
Ikram was like any
other girl in her age. The details of her life ranged
between fun and play, the commitment to fulfill her school
duties, and her housework obligations towards her parents
and siblings. She was so beloved among her colleagues
because she was so funny and treated all the people kindly.
She loved drawing and used to draw with her little fingers
and color her drawings with rainbow colors. She wished to
grow up as an artist. As for her dreams, she wished to have
the rights stated in the Convention on the Rights of the
Child. She dreamt to complete her college education and get
a suitable job to help her parents to improve their standard
of living, but she had left, leaving her parents in pain
that cannot be ceased by the passage of time.
