Ahmad Subayh and his family left their house that sited in Al Yarmouk district, seeking refuge in the aunt’s house that is only hundreds of meters away. In their view, it was more secure because the house of their neighbor is threatened with bombing. If the Israeli warplanes carried out their threat, they may suffer damage in lives and in money, so they preferred to keep away from danger, but danger ran after them to their aunt’s house.

Few days had passed and no one was touched with any harm. The area was so quiet, to some extent, which did not last for a long time, as the Israeli occupation forces escalated their air strikes on the Gaza Strip in the last day of the air phase. The warplanes dropped their missiles on every moving thing in the Strip. Ahmad and his cousin Mahmoud Al Mashharawy who was in the same age did not like war and its atmosphere, therefore, they went upstairs to the roof of their house in order to see something unlike the continuous horror which they saw in the eyes of all people. There, they played a little and laughed, but those laughs quickly subsided because an Israeli warplane fired a missile at them and took away their lives.

No one of them was holding a machine gun and they were not near anti-aircraft missiles; they just wanted to see the details of war, but the occupation did not have mercy on their innocent childhood and left the dreams in their hearts stained with blood. As a result of the explosion sound that shook the house, everyone went upstairs to see what happened. The scene was very painful: scattered body parts, blood that colored the walls, and dark sky because of the explosion smoke.

The mother feels pain for the death of the beloved ones, as she did not imagine that she are going to lose him so easy like that. She was getting ready to celebrate his success after passing the high school tests; especially he was so outstanding in school. However, today she does do anything but to cry and supplicate Allah to avenge on those who deprived her of her son.

Ahmad was religious and of morals. He used to offer Salah in masjids and attend the religious sessions in order to have more religion on Islam, moreover, he was so dutiful to his parents and siblings. His sister Iman said: "Ahmad was not only a brother, but a loyal friend, adviser, and my secret keeper and I was like that to him. She said that he was distinguished by many good characteristics that attract the hearts, as he was funny, smiley, and humble. His sister Amany added: He loved kids so much, share playing with them, and make them feel interest. Whenever he left the house and saw them playing, he starts to play with them, so they like that and become happy and proud that Ahmad is older but plays with them. Moreover, he was so kind to all people.

As for his brother Usamah, Ahmad was the kind father to him who cannot refuse any request to him, therefore, that left a great sign in the heart of Usamah because of his late brother. His sister Iman said: Usamah did not allow us to sit to eat before we say Tasmiyah “in the name of Allah" before eating, recite Al Fatihah, and supplicate Allah to Ahmad; that was everyday and every meal.

Ahmad dreamt of excelling in high school to be able to get a scholarship in which he studies journalism and media. So, he exerted much efforts to study and get scholarship and to be ready for the high school tests. Few months ago, he joined an informational course in photography and production. He hoped that he could complete the development of his skills in the field of media through study, but he left for good.
