| The Story of Martyrdom:
Despite the atmosphere of war on the Gaza Strip, and the fear and panic that it caused in the hearts of the citizens, the family of Abu `Awwad did not think for a moment that it will be targeted because they had no member of the family in the resistance and did not have a military base on the roof. However, in the 14th of January, an Israeli reconnaissance warplane fired a warning missile at the house of `Awwad, causing all the family members to leave the house at once. In few seconds, all the members of the family were away from the house that the Israeli warplanes targeted with another missile last, so the house collapsed and nothing was left out of it.
After the dust had settled, the family members heard a voice coming from the house door. It was Bilal who returned to the house to get something important from the house, but the missile was closer than his footsteps that stopped at the door, so the rubble fell on him and he was hit by shrapnel in his head that caused him to die as a martyr hours after reaching the hospital.
Ibrahim says about his late brother Bilal: "We were preparing for the high school test which he wished to pass successfully, but his dreams were killed when the occupation warplanes bombed the house on his head. He came from under the rubble full conscious, and asked us to rush the medic, perhaps he may live, but Allah has honored him with martyrdom. May Allah bestow mercy on his soul."
Bilal did not leave anything in religion but excelled in because he memorized the entire volume of the Qur’an. His grandfather says: "He was so religious since his young age, but he was somehow a troublemaker who loved playing and fun. He always made me laugh and traced the smile on his grandmother’s face."
Not only the eyes shed tears on the beloved ones, but also the heart bleeds and cannot stand the pain of departure. The grandmother's pain was horrible for the son whom she did not beget. The grandmother says: "The morning comes gloomy because the smile of Bilal is missing and the sun does not shine because it misses the face of Bilal. She cried and added: “Last Friday, I missed him so much for lunch where he used to sit with us at the table."
Bilal was an innocent child and whenever I saw his face I found it bright. He kept to performing the five obligatory daily prayers in the masjid and was mind-busy by supplicating Allah to ease the calamities of the Muslim nation.
