Details of Last Hours: Early morning on his last day, Abdel-Rahim had a hot shower after which he smelled odorous, according to his mother. Then, he asked her for forgiveness and requested her permission to go out. She initially refused, but he persistently repeated his request, confirming that he would only help resistance fighters in inflaming tires to cover their movements with smoke screens. Before he left, he told his mother, "You'll lament this day." She did anticipate that one of her children would be martyred, but she never expected Abdel-Rahim to be that one.At 2:00, the mother identified Abdel-Rahim on TV, which was broadcasting the picture of a dead man with an "unknown martyr" caption. Later, it was revealed that Abdel-Rahim had been killed by an Israeli reconnaissance jet missile.
