The 27th of December was the first day of the final exam for the 7 year old Uday. The little boy returned happy after doing the exam in a short time. As he approached his neighborhood he met his father on his donkey pulled cart heading to the market to sell citrus. The boy begged to accompany his father promising to resume preparation for the second exam on his return.
Uday arrived with his father in the market of Deir el-Balah and began to sell the citrus. It was almost 11:00 am. when the Israeli fighters bombarded the Police Headquarters of Deir el-Balah initiating the onslaught on Gaza. Uday’s father was injured during the first strikes and started bleeding on his cart. The attack took the people off guard, so they started flee though they did not know what to do nor what was happening. Uday’s father asked his son to get away from him and flee to save his life. As a result of the successive strikes Uday and his father were immediately martyred in the same place.
The Mansis received the sad news of the death of their son and grandson with deep sorrow and grief. Both martyrs had done nothing wrong to be sent home ripped corpses. Uday was the first and boldest child to Hakeem. He was dearly loved by all the family members. They used to live in a lovely rural area. Uday was a first grade student. All the family rejoiced when he joined school for the first time. His mother recalls: “ Although I used to spoil him, he had a strong personality,; we relied on him in many cases despite being so young. His father hoped he would complete his schooling and avoid tedious manual work.”
His grandmother said,” He was so brave that all around him were really impressed. He was lively and never waned to help or support his father and family.”
